Michele Zarb - The Teacher
Michele has been teaching art to intermediate and advanced students for over 15 years. She encourages each student to find their own way of expression, using an individual approach to meet each student’s needs. Michele strongly feels that an artist can not be truely creative until they have mastered the “building blocks” of art, such as drafting and drawing skills, composition, and color theory. At the same time, experimentation with different materials, techniques and approaches is essential to the growth of any artist.
Zarb also has the advantage of having a background in art materials. She worked for over ten years in an art supply store, and feels this was one of the best training grounds for her own artistic journey. It allowed her to try almost every art material available, interact with paint makers and chemists, as well as exchange ideas with many different artists.
Zarb has given demos and weekend workshops for many art groups and associations in Alberta and BC. She works with and teaches almost all media, with a wide variety of subjects, and can tailor the workshop to meet the needs of the group. The following is a partial list of her workshops.
- Portrait Workshop
- Pastel Workshop
- Outdoor Painting
- Gilding (gold leaf)
- Mixed Media Workshop
- Western Art Workshop
- Art Materials Primer (½ day)
